The event is being sponsored by the NC Cooperative Extension, the Union County Council on Aging, the Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center and WIXE radio. The event is free and open to the public.

The Senior Wellness Expo is a one-stop shop for health and wellness information for seniors. In 2009, over 70 healthcare agencies and services participated. Over four hundred seniors attended. Flu shots were provided and there were various health screenings available, including blood sugar, dental screening, spinal assessments and blood pressure.
