The Kid Chef

The Family & Consumer Sciences & 4-H Youth Development professionals with Union County Cooperative Extension are excited to team up this year to offer Kid Chef Week. This hands-on cooking camp, taking place July 24-28, emphasizes healthy food preparation techniques, simple ingredients, and simple equipment.  Each day we will focus on basic cooking techniques such as roasting, stir-frying, baking, sauteing, and more! In addition, youth will increase their confidence in their ability to cook, plan meals, read food labels, and keep food safe. All participants will be going home with full bellies and new cook booklets containing healthy recipes to make with their families at home. There is no better time than now to start bonding in the kitchen to begin a healthier lifestyle with your loved ones!  For more information on healthy cooking or youth development opportunities, please contact Union County Cooperative Extension at 704-283-3801.
