Is Your Farm a Century Farm Family flyer

Agriculture has a rich history in Union County and this year Union County Cooperative Extension will be celebrating that history during our annual Farm City week banquet on September 20th. We would like to honor family farms that have been recognized by the NC Department of Agriculture Century Farm Family program.

Has your family owned or operated a farm in North Carolina for 100 years or more? The NC Department of Agriculture recognizes and honors these farms with a certificate and road sign. Currently, Union County has 14 registered Century Family Farms.

The NCDA continually accepts applications for admittance into Century Farms and there is no application fee. This fall Union County Cooperative Extension is planning to recognize all Union County Century Farms at our annual Farm City Banquet on September 20th. If your farm is already a Century Family Farm please contact Nancie Mandeville at 704-283-3720 for more information on being included in this fall’s recognition. If you’d like to register your family farm please visit the NC Agriculture website, and be sure to let us know when you are accepted!
