Union County Beekeepers Host Bee School 101!

The Union County Beekeepers Association will be hosting Bee School 101 this Fall and in early 2019. Course A begins in October and runs through November. Course B begins in January of 2019 and runs through March of 2019.

This course will cover the following:

  • Why honeybees are important
  • Biology, physiology, & types of honey bees
  • Feeding, transporting, & hive placement
  • Types of hives, hive parts & accessories
  • How to inspect a hive & honey harvesting
  • Pollination and management of a hive throughout the different seasons. What to plant for bees!
  • Startup cost and equipment needed to get started

The cost is $70 per Adult and $50 per Student and includes:

  • Introduction to beekeeping book
  • UCNCBA annual membership
  • 11 classes of fun and learning!
  • State beekeeping certification upon completion of the final exam*
  • Free giveaways!

Sign up for the school to pay via PayPal, or register by mail! Include the following:

  • Checks can be made out to UCNCBA

*In order to take the certification exam, you will need to pay $15 NC member fee to the state and provide us with your NCSBA membership #.
