Union County 4H Congress

4-H is America’s largest youth development organization. The program’s goal is to provide life skills by youth feeling empowered to lead hands-on projects in the areas of science, health, agriculture, and civic engagement. 4-H youth gain confidence, independence, resilience, and compassion.

4-H is able to accomplish this through the different H’s – head, heart, hands, and health. Today, I would like to share with you all about the second H – heart. In 4-H world, heart represents belonging. Belonging means a close relationship. 4-H is big on providing safe, inclusive environments for youth to master projects and participate in various programs like 4-H clubs or special interest programs throughout the year with different people who all share the common interest.

The majority of the youth who participate in 4-H develop life long friendships with their club members or youth from another county that they see at local competitions and conferences throughout the year.

Currently, in Union County, we have fourteen 4-H clubs and are continuing to grow. If you are interested in signing your youth up for the 4-H program, contact the local office at 704.283.3735 or 704.283.3740. You may also visit our website to learn more about the different clubs at union.ces.ncsu.edu.
