4-H Livestock Interest Meeting

— Written By and last updated by

If you have any children, ages 5-18, who are interested in becoming involved in the 4-H Youth Livestock program, you are invited to attend the upcoming livestock interest meeting. This meeting will be a chance to explore current club offerings and meet club leaders as well as learn about upcoming opportunities. It’s also a great chance to suggest activities or clubs that interest your kids specifically! Species of interest can include cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry such as chickens or ducks, and rabbits. Even if owning livestock is not possible for your family, there are still opportunities available such as knowledge-based competitions or activities. If the time commitment is a concern, there is also a potential for upcoming 4-H SPIN clubs, which stands for special interest clubs. It’s a chance to learn more about a specific topic over a shorter time period, typically a 6-week minimum. There will be opportunities for everyone to get involved.

The meeting will be held at the Union County Agriculture Center at 3230 Presson Road in Monroe, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Please RSVP by giving the Livestock Agent, Rachel Owens, a call at 704-283-3739 or email at rachel_owens@ncsu.edu. If you think you might be interested in volunteering in any capacity with this program then please contact Rachel as well. No livestock experience is necessary.
