Pruning Seminar, Feb. 7, 1:00-2:30.

Learn how to properly prune ornamental trees and shrubs with information about when to prune, different pruning techniques and consideration for specific plants such as Japanese maples and hydrangeas. Led by John Murphy. $15

Attracting Birds to Landscape, Feb.27, 3:00-4:30

Bullington staff Kelsey Jarvis and John Murphy will discuss trees, shrubs and hardy perennials that will draw birds to your garden year-round with examples of nesting preferences and food sources for specific birds. In partnership with Wild Birds Unlimited of Hendersonville. $15

Community Gardens—Making it Happen A to Z, Feb. 25, 9:00-12:00

Learn how to successfully establish and manage a community garden with Jane Grossman, manager of Bountiful Harvest Community Garden in Hendersonville and Steve Pettis, Horticulture Extension Agent, Henderson County. Discussion will include tips on getting started, selecting a site, planning and designing the garden, garden guidelines and management.

Vegetable Gardening Basics, March 17-19, 3:30-5:00

Learn gardening basics on how to improve soil, composting, what and when to plant, pest control measures and other techniques to get your vegetable garden off to a great start in this 3-day program. Led by John Murphy. $50.

Using Perennials in the Landscape, April 2, 3:00-4:30

Crissy Dzielak of Landmark Landscapes will highlight great perennials for Western NC, especially ones that are lower maintenance, and how these plants can be effectively used in the landscape. $15

Growing Blueberries for the Home Garden, March 25, 3:00-4:30

Extension specialist Craig Mauney will discuss the best types to grow, conditions needed and how to prune blueberries for the homeowner. $15 ($25 for both the Blueberry and the Raspberry/Blackberry class).

Growing Raspberries and Blackberries for the Home Garden, March 26, 3:00-4:30

Extension specialist Craig Mauney will discuss the best conditions for good production, varieties and pruning practices of bramble crops for the homeowner. $15  ($25 for both the Blueberry and the Raspberry/Blackberry class).

Growing and Propagating Dahlias, April 7, 2:00-3:30

Brian Killingsworth, Bullington’s dahlia guru, will discuss and demonstrate how to grow these spectacular plants in your garden. Bring last season’s clumps of tubers to see how to divide into individual tubers. $12
