Collapse ▲Beginning October 1, 2020, we recognize National Active Aging Week. During this week we promote the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle throughout the life cycle. Older adults are encouraged to engage in safe activities that increase their fitness and flexibility, as well as, focus on vision, dental, nutrition, and skin care.
Some fitness activities that you or someone you know can try are nature walks, healthy eating classes, light weight lifting, yoga, chair aerobics, and dancing. These are exercises that strengthen muscles and improve balance. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), each year 3 million older people are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries. Living a healthy lifestyle throughout the life cycle will improve our potential to age actively.
