Home in the Winter Snow

Fall and Winter are my favorite time of year! I love to spend this time take extra special care of myself by enjoying yummy holiday treats and spending time with the family. Another thing that I take care of is my home! Remember, as the colder months come in, maintenance to ensure a warm and safe home is of the utmost importance. Here are a few tips for your home to think about as we prepare to enter Fall and Winter:

  1. Make sure to get keep up with the maintenance of your heater. Make sure it is checked by a technician so that they are clean and able to function properly to keep your home warm.
  2. Check up on your fireplace. Make sure it is clean and ventilated if you have one, and if you want to use it.
  3. Make sure to set up all insulation so your home stays warm and keep energy costs low.
  4. Clean outside of the house like the roof and gutters of leaves.
  5. Check all home detectors like smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Make sure they have fresh batteries to last through the season.
  6. Finally, have an emergency supply of non-perishable foods, water, battery-operated lighting sources, extra batteries, and first aid supplies. This is important for cold-weather natural disasters like blizzards or ice storms.

Prepare your home with these tips and stay safe during the holidays!
