Caldwell County 4-H and the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Caldwell County Center encourages youth and families to visit the Caldwell Agriculture Fair, which is set for September 8–11, 2021.

Why should anyone care about the fair? While historically, agriculture fairs existed to bring farmers together, modern fairs are as much about agriculture education as they are about showcasing local food and agriculture.

Youth and other community members can participate in the fair in several ways.

Exhibit Something You Grew, Made, or Created

Youth ages 5-19 can enter anything from vegetables to photography exhibits at the fair. They are able to show off their skills by exhibiting something they made or grew and receive feedback from a judge.

View the 2021 Youth Department Guidelines. Youth entries will be accepted from 5:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7.

View the 2021 Adult Entry Guidelines– NOTE: Entry times differ from youth department.

Reserve and Decorate a Booth

4-H Clubs, non-profit organizations, and other civic groups can reserve a booth at the fair free of charge up until the week before the fair. Commercial booth are available for $125.

Contact the fair office at 828-728-7050, or 4-H Clubs can make booth reservations with Sarah Kocher at sarah_kocher@ncsu.edu.

Attend Livestock Shows – as a Competitor or Spectator

Livestock competitions showcase animal agriculture and only happen after youth and families invest months of dedication and care. Young showman work to put their best foot (hoof) forward on show day.

Come out and watch at the livestock arena on Thursday and Friday evening at the 2021 Caldwell Agriculture Fair.

Grow Your Knowledge at the Fair

Visiting your local fair helps you learn more about agriculture and celebrate your community. The Caldwell Agriculture Fair is not the only fair around. Consider also attending the Mountain State Fair or North Carolina State Fair in 2021.
