Summer is right around the corner! Stokes County 4-H Summer Fun is ramping up for another awesome summer program! We have a full list of opportunities for youth ages 5-18 to participate in, such as Berry-Fun Farm Tour, Lamb Camp, Ziplining, Sew Much Fun, Sauracreek Farm Tour, a tour of the NC State Dairy Unit, Farm Ecology, NC A&T Farm Tour, Kordick Farm tour (apples and produce), Robotics Camp and Life Skills Rodeo!
Registration for the 2022 Stokes County 4-H Summer Fun program will begin May 1st! All youth must be a 4-H member to participate in, so NOW is the time to make sure your 4-HOnline profile is up to date and submitted BEFORE May 1st. We encourage you to complete this process before registration opens, so you are able to go into the system and register for camps right away as they become available. Visit v2.4HOnline.com to update your child’s profile, or to create a profile if you’re new.
Youth will only be guaranteed a spot in a camp once they have paid in full! Families have 3 business days to make their payments. For example, if payments are being mailed, they must be postmarked within 3 business days of your registration date (if I submit my child’s registration on May 3rd, my payment must be postmarked by May 6th, or I must bring payment to the office by May 6th). You may mail in cash or check to Stokes County 4-H PO Box 460, Danbury, NC 27016, or bring it by the office, 700 N Main Street, Danbury, NC 27016 (located in the old Danbury School, behind River Street). Please make checks payable to Stokes County 4-H.
Ages for camps are based on the child’s age as of January 1st of the current year.

How do I register for 4-H Summer Camps?
1. Are you enrolled in 4-HOnline? If not, please visit v2.4honline.com and create a family account and enroll TODAY! If you are, sign in and select your child’s profile.

2. Click the “Events” tab on the left, then click the blue “Register for new evet” button.

3. Scroll to find “Stokes County 4-H 2022 Summer Fun” and begin your Summer Fun registration.

4. Begin the registration process by selecting the camps your child would like to attend. Complete each section including questions, consents and the confirmation page.
5. Once you’ve completed the consent page, you will be sent to this page. Please click the blue “Pay by Check” button! 
6. Then, you will confirm that you will be submitting payment via check (or cash).
7. Once you’ve completed those steps, you’ll see the blue “Next” button.
8. You’ll finally land on the confirmation page where you can review everything and then hit the green “Finish” button. A “Registration Submitted” email will then be sent to you with directions on how to make a payment.

Camp Details
Here you will find details about each camp, as well as whether the camp is full. You must register for a camp in your 4-HOnline profile! Please note each camp is a drop-off and pick-up camp. You will drop your child off at the designated location at the designated time, and pick-up at the same location and designated time. These details will be sent out a week prior to each camp.
Berry Fun Farm Tour – FULL
Mabe’s Berry Farm has been owned and operated since the first strawberry plant was planted in 1967 and is one of the oldest strawberry farms in North Carolina. Manuel Farm is a family-run business that started selling strawberries in 2021 and is now expanding into fresh produce! We will get to tour both farms and see fresh fruit being grown and get to try it right from the field.

Lamb Camp – FULL
Join us to learn all abaaaa-out taking care of sheep and goats! We’ll learn about being safe around animals, what sheep and goats eat, and even showmanship skills! We will end with a mock show for youth to showcase what they’ve learned to their families.

Age: 5-11 year olds AND 12-18 year olds

Ziplining – FULL
Join us at Carolina Ziplines for a fun morning of swinging through the trees!

Sew Much Fun – FULL
Join Stokes County 4-H for a day of creativity and service! You will make your very own no-sew blanket to take home, as well as no-sew dog toys to take to the Friends of Stokes Shelter.

Sauracreek Farm Tour – 10 spots remaining
Saura Creek Farm, located in Westfield, NC, is owned and operated by first-generation farmers Sumpter and Madison Smith. We will tour their gardens, greenhouse and learn how they raise trout in three aquaponic systems.
When: June 28th 830a-12p

NC State Dairy Unit Tour – 11 spots remaining
Join us as we take an adventure to NC State’s Dairy Unit in Raleigh. We will learn about all things dairy, tour the NC State Dairy Unit, learn about the process of how Howling Cow ice cream is made, and explore NC State Campus.
When: June 30th 8a-4p 
Age: 11-14 year olds

Farm Ecology – 6 spots remaining
Join us to learn about how soil, plants, and animals work together in a grazing ecosystem. We’ll dive into the soil to learn about its properties impact plant growth, and discuss how plant biology relates to grazing management, including how grazing animals eat their food!

NC A&T Farm Tour – 6 spots remaining
The 492-acre University Farm is a working, producing farm that raises crops and livestock, including dairy and beef cattle, poultry, swine, horses, meat goats and sheep. We will take a trolley tour of the farm to see what all it has to offer, then we will head to campus for lunch in the dining hall.

Kordick Farm Tour – FULL
Kordick Family Farm is a mother-daughter operation that was founded in 2009; they have planted over 850 apple trees in Stokes County. We will tour the apple orchard, learn how they grow apples, and even have a taste of an apple treat.

Robotics – 8 spots remaining
Have you ever built a robot from junk? Here’s your chance! You will be challenged to build a robotic arm from everyday household items. Youth will gain an understanding of the basic science concepts related to robotics while building skills in science, technology and engineering. This program is for youth who love science and love to design things!
When: Aug 2nd-4th 830a-4p

Life Skills Rodeo – FULL
Life skills Rodeo is a camp to teach youth the basics to life. You will learn about car maintenance, how to write a thank you note, simple cooking recipes, laundry for beginners, how to operate power tools, and MUCH more!
