Union County youth ages 12–15 are invited to participate in the Super Sitter Summer Bootcamp, a free, hands-on training designed to help young people develop valuable childcare, leadership, and communication skills while preparing them for future babysitting opportunities.
Hosted by N.C. Cooperative Extension, Union County Center, in partnership with Union County Public Schools Latino Outreach, the bootcamp offers an engaging and interactive learning experience that goes beyond a traditional classroom setting. Participants will gain practical skills, build confidence, and learn how to become trusted, responsible babysitters in their communities.
The Super Sitter Summer Bootcamp will be offered on two dates:
- Friday, June 27, 2026 (FULL)
- Saturday, August 1, 2026
Both sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Union County Agricultural Center, 3230 Presson Road, Monroe, NC.
Throughout the bootcamp, participants will learn essential babysitting skills, including:
- Basic first aid and CPR awareness (non-certifying)
- Safe childcare practices
- Diapering, feeding, and age-appropriate care techniques
- Communication skills for working with parents
- How to manage and promote a babysitting business
- Planning fun, age-appropriate activities for children
In addition to receiving valuable training, participants will enjoy a free catered lunch and have the opportunity to earn an official Super Sitter certification upon successful completion of the program requirements.
The program is offered at no cost, but space is limited and advance registration is encouraged.
