The Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) is available for local producers in Union County to rent and utilize on-farm. It is currently limited to Union County residents /producers and cannot be rented outside of the county.
The MPU rental fee is $50 per day. Contact Rachel Owens or Aaron Moore to schedule a rental date. Dates fill up fast so check on availability well before your desired processing date.
Per the rental agreement, the MPU trailer requires a 2 5/16th ball, a 7-way trailer light plug, and a MINIMUM of a half-ton truck. Agents reserve the right to deny service if vehicle is deemed insufficient.
First-time users must watch a video on proper processing methods and go through a short training before the first rental. The video must be watched in advance and the training will be done at pick up. If you require additional on-farm assistance, check with the agents to see about availability.
For users looking to resell your poultry products, then you must have a Poultry Exemption through the NCDA. You are responsible for obtaining the Poultry Exemption. For more information, visit the NCDA's page.
