About Us~
We are a volunteer organization that has been serving our communities in Union
County, NC, since 1989. Extension Master Gardeners participate in and provide educational community programs such as:

Growline  – We are here to help you find answers to your gardening and landscaping questions. Our research is based on information provided by our land-grant institutions, North Carolina State University and NC A&T. You can call (704-283-3822) or email (ucmgwebsite@gmail.com) us for help with your questions.

Successful Gardener Programs – The public is invited to attend our free educational programs on various gardening and horticulture topics on the 1st Thursday of each month (except July & December), at 7 p.m., at the Union County Agriculture Center.

Carolina Home Grown – Focusing on growing and purchasing Local Foods.
10 Percent Campaign – Encouraging consumers to commit 10%, of their
existing food dollars, to support local food producers.

Farmers Markets – Volunteers participate at local Union County Farmers Markets (and a couple of times each year in Matthews, Mecklenburg County) with educational displays and information, answering gardening questions, seasonal plant sales, and activities for children.

Speakers Bureau  – Volunteers provide programs and presentations to community organizations and schools.

Ask a Master Gardener – Held the last Saturday of each month, March – October, at the Teaching Garden located at the Union County Agriculture Center, beginning at 9 a.m.
