Don't Forget: Sign Up For December Safe Plates Classes!

(Updated: Nov. 21, 2022, 6:28 a.m.)

The registration deadline for December Safe Plates for Food Managers Course has been extended to Friday, December 2nd, so there is still time and space to sign up for our three-day food safety course.

North Carolina Cooperative Extension – Union County Center will be holding the Safe Plates for Food Managers course, in person, at the Union County Agriculture Center. The course and exam help meet North Carolina's requirement of having at least one certified food protection manager in a food establishment, per the 2017 FDA Food Code. This interactive course is filled with hands-on activities and case studies to help understand best safety practices when it comes to topics such as personal hygiene, preventing cross-contamination of foods, and handling allergens. Once the course is completed, participants will take an ANSI-approved Food Protection Manager Certification exam that is accepted throughout the United States for up to five years.

The course and exam cost $150 and will be from December 6th – 8th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the exam being held on December 9th at 9 AM. If you work in a foodservice establishment such as a restaurant, hospital kitchen, or a school cafeteria and are interested in taking the course for certification this December, you can sign up by online Eventbrite registration (Card, Cash, and Check accepted) or by printing and completing the traditional Safe Plates For Food Managers registration form (Cash and Check accepted).

We look forward to seeing you to learn about the importance of food safety!
