Spring and Summer FCS Programs Are Here!

There’s nothing like warmer weather, going outside more often, and learning more about preserving your food and food safety! Now you can sign up for our upcoming Home Food Preservation and Safe Plates food safety programs for the summer!

In May, we will be holding our Canning 101 Home Food Preservation Series. Come and learn the effective and safe ways to can your food. You might even get some great hands-on experience! Morning classes will be held on May 10th, 17th, and 24th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. We’re also offering a new 1-day accelerated weekend class on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In June we will be holding our Safe Plates for Food Managers Course. This is a 12-hour course that offers a unique and interactive way to understand the best food safety practices for food service management. Students are able to take the certification exam following the class to become a Certified Food Protection Manager, a requirement of each food service establishment in North Carolina. The Safe Plates for Food Managers course will be from June 5th  - 7th from 9:00 AM  - 1:30 PM, with an exam day on June 8th from 9:00 AM  - 12:00 PM. The cost for the course is $150 which covers the course materials and exam. You can register for the course at go.ncsu.edu/spfmunion.
