Clubs

In 2024, 357 youth participated in 4-H clubs ranging from after-school groups to traditional community-based clubs with focuses like leadership, STEM, arts, horses, and livestock. Every club completes at least two community service projects per year, teaching members the importance of giving back while pursuing their passions.

Camps

4-H day and overnight camps create lasting memories and hands-on experiences. In 2024, Union County 4-H hosted 14 camps with 84 participants, including 26 who attended more than one.

  • Day camps remain highly rated by parents, with one parent sharing: “I appreciate the opportunity for leadership, public speaking, and collaboration that students get while at camp—so much more than just the products.”

School Enrichment

Union County 4-H’s school enrichment program has expanded significantly, engaging 2,520 students in 2024 at Union, Wingate, Prospect, Waxhaw, Unionville, and Union Academy schools—with Porter Ridge Elementary joining soon.

  • Programming includes cooking, STEM/robotics, and gardening.

  • “Wake Up to Agriculture” reached nearly 3,000 additional students this year.
Teachers note increased engagement and excitement, with one saying: “The coding activities sparked my students’ desire to delve deeper into the subject.”

Youth & Parent Voices

“4-H is near to my heart as I participated throughout kindergarten and high school. I still consider the pledge to be an important reminder. I wish that all who participate continue to learn, grow, and be empowered.” – Former 4-H'er

“My daughter absolutely loved the summer day camps she attended—her favorite was Fire & Rescue. She came home excited every day, reminding me to unplug our wax warmer and even showing me how to check our fire extinguisher. She’s much more aware and prepared now.” – 4-H Parent

“Congress helped me realize my passion for running for district officer and getting more involved. The leadership opportunities inspired me, and staying on campus gave me a glimpse into college life.” – Union County 4-H’er
