At Union County 4-H, we don’t just keep kids busy. We grow young people into thriving and “Beyond Ready” adults, equipping them with leadership skills, resilience, and a sense of purpose that lasts long after the season ends or the club wraps up. And the best part? 4-H runs year-round!

And the best part is that 4-H isn’t something youth have to choose; instead of sports or school clubs, they can do all of them. Many of our 4-H’ers are also student-athletes, FFA members, band students, drama club participants, and more. What makes 4-H unique is that it complements those experiences while offering additional leadership, service, and real-world readiness.

The 2023 National 4-H Index Study, which surveyed nearly 4,000 youth across 19 states, confirmed what we’ve seen firsthand: 4-H youth aren’t just participating—they’re thriving.

1. It’s Multi-Age and Mentor-Rich

In 4-H, younger youth grow under the guidance of older teens, and both are supported by trained, caring adult volunteers. Whether it’s in a club, at summer camp, or during a hands-on project, youth are surrounded by positive role models of all ages.
