Happy September everyone! We are officially two-thirds through the year 2021. This year has been a whirlwind and with us quickly approaching the end of the year we are also coming close to our favorite season - the holidays! Whether you will be attending family reunions or having a more intimate setting there is one thing that both have in common and that is sitting down to enjoy some delicious food.
This year, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education program, otherwise known as EFNEP, will be offering a free six lesson series to share money savings tips and recipes for the holidays. Not only are the recipes delicious, but they are budget friendly and nutritious. All of the recipes shared cost approximately $11 for a family of four. For decades, EFNEP has been helping families with children learn how to eat healthier meals and snacks, stretch their food dollars and reduce the risk of food-borne illnesses.
After completing the six of the lessons you will receive a Certificate of Completion along with a kitchen skill builders kit, which includes measuring cups and spoons, cutting board, food thermometer, and the EFNEP cookbook which includes many budget-friendly recipes that are sure to impress.
You can attend in person or participate via Zoom from the comfort of your home. This program will be offered in English and Spanish. For registration and information about this program visit the Cooking on a Dime Registration page or contact Judith Garcia at (704) 283-3737. Let’s make sure to wow your family and friends this upcoming holiday season.
