FCS@Home: Home Holiday Safety with COVID-19

We’re well into the holiday season which means time for food, fellowship, and family. However, this year may look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Remember, it is important that we take care of our friends, coworkers, and family members during this time by wearing masks, washing our hands, and social distancing with at least 6 feet of distance. Some family members may have difficulty seeing each other this holiday season. But this shouldn’t stop you from finding better solutions. This holidays season may mean, having a virtual dinner together or playing a game over the computer. It may mean following CDC guidelines and keeping holiday dinners to a small capacity, social distancing, and maybe even celebrating outdoors.

Another important aspect of holiday safety, is food safety, when serving friends and family. One of the biggest safety tips to remember is to cook your foods to proper temperatures to prevent pathogens that create foodborne illness.
