‘Tis the Season, to Check Your Canner Gauge

Spring is here and planting our produce has just begun!

Pressure Canner CheckingWhat better way to preserve your fruits and vegetables after harvesting than by canning! If you’re using a pressure canner, it’s very important to check the pressure gauge frequently, to verify that the gauge is reading the pressure (psi) correctly. Pressure gauges that are off by more than 2 psi, need to be replaced. If you’re looking to get your pressure canner gauge inspected for accuracy, contact the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Union County office at (704) 283-3801, to make an appointment to get your pressure canner gauge checked at no cost.

Happy Growing and Happy Canning!
