Collapse ▲On Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. N.C. Cooperative Extension, Union County Center and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services will be collecting pesticides that need to be disposed of!
This pesticide collection event will occur behind the Union County Agricultural & Event Complex, a.k.a. the “Ag Center” in one of the large parking decks behind the building. There will be signs on the day of the event.
Farmers, homeowners, landscapers, and more are all welcome.
To register for the event, please email Morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions:
- Event time: Pesticide Collection Days are always 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with no breaks.
- Materials Accepted: The NCDA can only accept pesticides – if in doubt, contact morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu
- Pesticide Dealers, Retailers, and Businesses: The event’s focus is to assist agricultural producers, farmers, and homeowners. Collecting from dealerships and retail pesticide sales would overburden the Program’s budget. If in doubt, contact morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu before collection day to discuss individual situations for potential assistance.
- Materials NOT Accepted: We cannot accept minibulk/IBC containers, unknown materials, pressurized cylinders (but pesticide aerosols are fine), or other non-pesticide items at the event – if in doubt, contact morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu before the event. We may be able to provide assistance and options, but it may not be at the event or through this program.
- Bulk Liquids: Any material container over 5 gal in size requires pre-approval from our Contractor. Contact morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu before the event for assistance/options.
- Pesticides from outside the County: Yes, pesticides can be brought to the Collection Day from ANY North Carolina county.
If you have questions about this event or plan on bringing any container larger than 5 gallons, please reach out to the Union County Field Crops Extension Agent and Pesticide Coordinator, Morgan Menaker at morgan_menaker@ncsu.edu
